When you're feeling indulgent, do you go sweet tooth, or salty? (I think they call that savory, but that words odd to me)

And what do you eat?

My things been ice cream for a while now, but I've been curbing that sweet tooth lately.

I love candy. Hard candy like Nerds and Runts and Gobstoppers. Gummy candy like any sour gummy worms and gummy bears (the Albanese brand is the absolute best). Chocolate candy like Butterfinger and Reese’s. Sometimes I’ll balance it out with something salty like the Munchies Cheese Fix mix or salsa verde chips. Also love cake, especially chocolate (although don’t ever put fücking coconut on a cake or you’ll ruin it). Love donuts. Yeah, I mean there’s not a lot of junk food I won’t eat.

Haha, good answer. I've always loved Butterfingers, there's... now I'm getting deja vù, I may have told you about these, but the Butterfinger Bells that come out at Xmas time, perfect ration of chocolate and middle stuff. I'm pretty sure I missed the Xmas Sugar Cookie Hershey Kisses, I keep forgetting to look at the store.

This also extends to breakfast cereals and breakfast foods, which are mostly nutritional trash as well. Pop Tarts, Toaster Strudels, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Crunch Berries, all those Halloween cereals like Frankenberry and Count Chocula. I love all of them.

The fizzy sweets, are they the ones that actually fizz? The only ones I've had in the states that do that are a fruity hard candy, and when you get to the middle they start fizzin'. Are those the same, and do they come packaged individually but each package is sealed to the next like a rope?

If so, those would bring me back a long ways, to a simpler time...

These biscuits, I'm assuming cookies, are they the Lorne Doone style short breads? I'm pretty sure they put some drug in those to make flying tolerable.

Shortbread fingers!

You can maybe tell I lived in Scotland for ages from this!

It definitely depends. If it's just a snackish mood I like salty more. If I am sad or stressed and looking for a pick-me-up I often go for sweet.

DÜmR

Is that ehat they're actually called, shortbread fingers? Such a macabre name nowadays. But when I was a kid I'd probably think nothing of it.

Also, @neon, interesting the mood plays such an important roll with people. But I suppose, I definitely have cravings for certain things when I'm down. That's when I get cravings for actual food food, but it's still feel good food. Tater tot hotdish.

I could've phrased that differently, I eat actual food food too, but I also get through my day on snacks, some healthy, some not.

Ahhhh, look at those Lil biscuit fingers! I love it! I can't believe I clicked the link, I don't often do that.

Oh actually There was a ben n jerry ice cream i liked but that flavour is discontinued. Wich is sucky :< cuz it was the only one I liked

DÜmR

Jan 28, 2025 00:44

I see that Reese ice cream, I'm gonna have to try it some time.

I was a Ben N Jerry's aficionado, but I had to scale it back because I have to watch my money.

Which flavor was discontinued? I'm curious if it's my favorite that was also discontinued. I used to get it in California a lot, then when I kobed back home I could only find it in one store, and I've never seen it since.

Mjauw

Jan 28, 2025 13:32

Oh it was the ben&jerry topped, flavour: love is...

DÜmR

Jan 28, 2025 21:30

Hmmm, I don't think I've even seen that one. The discontinued one I'm looking for is dairy or the non dairy cinnamon buns. It was killer.

The topped dirt cake is phenomenal. Can't eat it out of the carton though or it flies everywhere. I have to tip it upside down into a bowl. It's great though.

I also like mint chocolate chip ice cream

DÜmR

Jan 29, 2025 00:31

I've never been huge on mint and chocolate. I'll eat it, and I like it when I do, but it's not something I pick out for myself.

Chocolate and caramel is the best combo

Daddy Gru

Jan 29, 2025 03:31

Definitely incorrect. Chocolate and peanut butter is scientifically proven to be a much more universally desirable flavor combination.

Jan 29, 2025 03:43

That is blatantly false Gru. You are not worthy of your beard

My cravings happen during pmdd. I'm a pretty healthy eater, other then that time. Unfortunately I do have a sweet tooth. I try & be good, but like once a month I succumb to my cravings. I have expensive cravings too. Lol I'm not really a chocolate person. I love Hagen Daz ice cream dulce de leche flavour it's vegetarian & it's delicious. I share it with my boyfriend once a month, but only in summer. While he feels sorry with me about my time of the month. Lol 😄 if it's not that, it's a lotus bicoff thickshake. Basically I like a specific type of tasting caramel. That's my treat. & I don't have a cheap pallet when it comes to treats, unfortunately. I'm not really a savour treat eater, my partner loves potato chips (crisps) but his cut down.

I'm kind of glad my mum didn't really let me have sugary, or snack food in my lunch box growing up, she use to send me off with fruit, a sandwich, & milk. She told me sugary drinks were bad, & I only ate crisps, & treats at birthday parties. My dessert at home growing up was plain yoghurt with honey mixed through or fruit. I was sometimes envious of other kids having crisps , & roll ups & candy/lollies with there lunch, but not now I'm older. I guess that's a good parenting thing she did.

Caramel is a joke.

Jan 29, 2025 20:04

People who aren't allowed foods as kids will most likely search it out as soon as they can, we all know what is banned becomes more wanted.

I have cupboards of all snacks as if i have them i don't want them, I want what i don't have.
I usually go for savory thou. Unless it's black forest or black cherry flavour, my weakness

I snort cavalier!

Weary whisper

Jan 29, 2025 22:50

@gru says you! 🤪

@slothpenguin yep probably why I use to like sweets once I had more freedom lol. I was allowed on birthdays & special occasions, but anyway not anymore, not with my medical condition. I've had to give a lot up, drinking, sugar etc... pmdd & those things really don't pair well. Next will be coffee my hardest ever. 😪

@dumr snort, not intravenous, not brutal enough. 🤪😆
