Are you too online? Do you ever feel trapped in an endless cycle of seeking the external validation of likes and comments and retweets and follows? Or are you stuck online for other reasons far too often and for far too long?
I count myself lucky to have been born in 1984 and therefore grew up in a time before the internet came into widespread usage and before social media. I remember what it was like to not have these things, but younger people were born into this socio-technological brain experiment and have no reference to what I’m talking about. There are a lot of books and a lot of studies that have concluded what a destructive mess it has all been. An entire generation of young men, for instance, have become unviable mates partially due to the ready availability of online pörn and other avenues to social isolation.
How do you feel about your internet consumption, and would you like your relationship to the technology to change in any way?
