What helps:

-Warm Shower
-Cup of water on standby
-A cuddle buddy (rip)
-Drinking alcohol
-White noise, such as a fan or heater

What doesn't help:

-Having a cold room with no warm blankets
-Drinking anything high in caffeine
-Being in the same room as someone who is gaming and in a Discord call simultaneously throughout your entire sleep time (Thank "God" it's over)
-Melatonin (tried it on a work night; only made me feel drowsy when it was time to be awake and failed to keep me asleep)
-Letting the intrusive thoughts win

What kind of alcohol?

Enough more than anything specific really. One night I had three shots of Jameson and a stupid shark drink. Unfortunately that was the limit Outback would allow me, but since I don't typically drink, it worked well enough for me.

Nothing. Well, nothing external really, other than air purifier because it's a noisey neighborhood. (white noise)

*Good sleep hygiene, like routine.

*I never hangout in my bed anymore, because I finally have room enough not to. That's been helping.

There's only one medication that puts me down without make me feel insanely groggy like I haven't slept in a week, and that's ambien, but it makes me black out or sleep walk, or something, then I take more in that stupor (like a wickedly dangerous amount) and then I have problems. So I don't take it anymore.

Over time, booze is one of the worst things a person can do. I was so bad with alcohol withdrawal I couldn't sleep more than 2 to 3 hours a night. This is common af btw.

Not lecturing, just stating what I've learned from treatments, the web, and personal experience.

Tbf, I never said it was a good Idea... At least there is a voice of reason here.

For sure, it didn't read that way to me. That's just how I chose to deal with my sleep issues back in the day. It only worked for me for so long.

get in to bed, turn off the lights and put on an audiobook for 30 mins. works great !

Listening to comedy podcasts.

Drowns out the tinnitus and distracts from the negative intrusive thoughts battling for attention.

Lots of weed, melatonin and youtube videos here. Mostly Many A True Nerd, he's quite soothing to me!

I make sure the flower I ingest is Myrcene and Linalool-heavy for sleep.

Also do a sort of meditative Chakra balancing exercise while laying in bed. Starts at the root, then sacral and upwards til the crown.
It's not fancy and only takes a few minutes.

An orgasm and calming music always does the trick

Foods that are high in Tryptophan. Apparently help you sleep. If you're a meat eater, (omnivore) think Turkey at Christmas, perhaps for you thanksgiving, & think how sleepy people get. Apparently warm cows milk has something in it too. Ive been vegetarian for 30yrs, i dont drink cows milk either, so i dont know. Take magnesium . I listen to rain noise on my ear buds to help me sleep & block out other noises, that helps me. Or I listen to youtubers with hosts that have soothing voices, but I might be extra weird with that one. Lol

I only sleep if its completely quiet and dark and no movement (any other person next to me moves)
So no background noises or night light and as sad as it is I don't like most sleep company if I want a good night's sleep, if I just want a sleepover party then ofc that's an exception hahah but as a standard I like my piece and quiet and I value my sleep highly.
I also wake up from smells so anything out of the ordinary will disturb me. Especially food smells.
Perhaps i should invest in a coffin?

I also sleep well outside. Camping and such.

Also, pee before bed

😄 pee before bed. Stop drinking water like 3hrs before bed. Lol

I have trouble sleeping next to others too. My current partner snores a lot, & moves a lot. My ex use to ride me like a motorcycle in his sleep. He was always taking the corners. Lol

My current partner & I agreed to get separate bedrooms, when we move out together. Ahhhh my own bed to myself. Also he likes it cool & windows open. I like the heater on. 🤷🏻‍♀️

See, people often romanticise sleeping together but hell no, it's not romantic if one is angry and tired all the time from lack of sleep
Very good that your current human companion is accepting. That's sweet actually ^^

Agreed 🙂

I always liked the idea of having a relationship that works for the people involved, not confirming to all the norms. We still bond & have intimacy. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sleeping alone definitely is more comfy and restful than sleeping next to someone. But I am also a bed hog 😂

If you have a California king size bed, you barely notice your partner’s movements being that they’re about one statute mile away.
