I recently moved to California for a job opportunity. Originally from Nebraska. One thing that I like about California is that people here are about self-expression here rather than conformity. I have a Ph.D. in Biophysics, where I studied prion proteins (related to mad cow disease). Because of studying that, I am vegan. In my free time, I enjoy going to concerts, improv, stand up comedy, and road trips. My taste in music is eclectic. I listen to many styles of rock, including heavy metal. I grew up in the late 90s and early 200s, so I do listen to quite a bit of "nu metal", and 90s Alternative. I'll also listen to 80s metal, ranging from the British new wave of heavy metal, hair bands, and some thrash from time to time. I will also listen to new wave and synth pop from the 80s and today as well. On some days, I'll be in the mood for oldies and classic rock as well. I'm also into Jazz, especially fusion and Latin jazz. I've recently gotten into old school R&B/ funk. At this point, I'll even listen to "yacht rock" unironically. I'm not really into today's top 40, rap, pop, or country in general, but occasionally I find a catchy tune, but not often. There is good music being made today, but it's about where you look. As for television/ movies, I don't watch a lot of it, since I'm busy doing previously mentioned stuff in my free time. I'll watch,YouTube videos a lot to discover music, documentaries, and to watch weird videos there on occasion. I generally have the outward appearance of a normal person most of the time, but I'd like to explore more self expression. I don't have any tattoos or piercings myself, and I don't plan on getting any. However, I don't mind other people having them if it helps them express themselves. I also try to do mindfulness activities such as meditation and yoga.
