My self-summary:
My name is Matt. I live in Marietta. I am a musician. I play 4 instruments, guitar, piano, drums, bass, and sing backing vocals. I studied at the Atlanta Institute of Music for 2 years for music theory, guitar technique, and studio recording. I work in IT / Computers for a living. I was a chef for approximately 8 years before switching careers to the IT Industry. I love hanging out with good friends, video games, music, cooking, hiking, and spending quality time with the ones I love. I have two cats and they are like my kids lol. My drink of choice is Belhaven Black or any good stout beer and Gentleman's Jack Daniels mixed with coke and grenadine.
I'm up front and very honest. I expect you to be the same. I'm a Taurus in every sense. I'm stubborn, extremely honest, and a hopeless romantic. I'm very grounded when it comes to who I am and I speak my mind. I've had my fair share of rough relations**ts and I'm not here to jump into anything or deal with flakey people. I'm real and I don't play games with people especially when it comes to their emotions. Always friends first. With that being said, I'm very serious when I need to be but most of the time I'm a kid at heart and I just like to have fun without any drama. If you would like to know anything else about me feel free to ask and if you like what you see then please message me.
As of August 17th 2014 I have been certified to practice Reiki. For those of you who are skeptical or don't believe in it at all, I had the same mentality 8 months ago until it was practiced on me. A lot of people charge for this but my sessions with others are free. My reward is being able to see people heal and better themselves after receiving it. If anyone is interested or curious please feel free to message me and I'll gladly discuss it with you.
What I’m doing with my life:
I'm currently a freelance web designer and an Independent IT Consultant. I do web design work and music on the side mostly for fun but I will build and sell a custom website or lay down some studio tracks if someone requests it.
I’m really good at:
Music, Culinary, IT/Computers, Landscaping, MMORPG's, First Person Shooters.
The first things people usually notice about me:
Most people notice my eyes, beard, and hair.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food:
I don't read a lot of books unless I'm extremely interested in the topic or content ie. The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy.
As far as movies I like a wide variety, horror (Hellraiser Series - I have a huge memorabilia collection), action adventure, comedy, documentaries, some drama, and yes even the occasional chick flick if it's with the right person.
I currently watch, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Sleepy Hollow, Arrow, Reign, and American Horror Story.
As for music it's a huge part of my life so I listen to a lot of different genres (Metal, Rock, Industrial, Classic Rock, Jazz, Blues, and Classical), Progressive Metal/Rock being my favorite. Favorite band is Dream Theater. This song is from their new self-titled album and yes it really is 22:17 min long consisting of 5 parts with a 9 piece string section in part 3.

I also have several other favorites including, Guns N Roses, Type O Negative, Alice In Chains, NiN, Tool, Pink Floyd, Eric Johnson, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Stevie Ray Vaughn, etc. Way too many bands to list here but I have over 500Gb of music on an external drive so that should give you an idea of how many artists I like. As far as country I like older country such as Johnny Cash. I don't care for edm, new rock, rap, hip hop, or dub step mainly because it's redundant and most of it sounds the same which bores me not to mention approximately 90% is produced electronically using no instruments which, imo being an actual musician, takes minimal talent and I will never respect that. You might think I'm being pompous but the truth pisses people off. Yes I'm very opinionated about it because I can actually play 4 instruments, went to school for music, and have been playing my entire life so I have the right to be. The major record labels have completely ruined the industry for actual musicians, producing anyone who can sell an image catering to the masses of sheeple who happen to like something because it's trendy, and because they no longer cater to talent. If you listen to music from the 70's 80's and 90's when bands could actually write and play thought out unique material, have the ability to play well live without a backing track or lip syncing on stage, and play guitar solos with scale structure, you'll notice that they all had their own sound. Now days everyone sounds the same with the exception of a few vocalists and their writing ability as well as song structures are weak and cliché. The major record labels also completely screw some musicians out of profit. Only as much as $0.67 goes to the artist from each album sale and the rest goes to the label and production. The label also puts a time limit on a bands writing process asking for 3-5 albums in a set time period. You can't do this to an artist because real talent comes from the inspiration of true raw emotion whether it be anger or depression or happiness or w/e and it has to come naturally and cannot be forced. This is why there is so much mundane garbage being produced today. Most bands and artists today don't even write their own music. There are multiple cliché trendy catchy song writers who write this crap and let these bands become the poster child for the mutiny of music. There are very few new bands who are musically inclined and actually worth listening to. Everyone has the right to listen to what they like but I won't listen to something just because the artists looks cool or the only "catchy" and somewhat decent song on their album is played 5,000 times a week on the radio. Do I know everything about music? No of course not and I'm not claiming to, but I am educated enough in the field to know main stream garbage when I hear it and give respect to those who don't produce music solely for monetary value. No amount of money will ever take the place of real talent and I wish more people would think outside of the box, give real talent it's due credit, stop paying for a band's or artist's song or album because it's "catchy", and boycott the crap on the radio these days by refusing to listen to it. There are extremely talented starving artists in every genre that will never be heard or produced because their music isn't considered to be catchy or won't sell an image and it's a crime and a depravity to the art. With this being said you can take it how you want but if you open your mind you will see the truth. I may sound like an asshole for speaking my mind here but if you were a musician you would understand where I'm coming from. I'm willing to give anything a try but if it's mainstream chances are I will most likely not care for it.
When it comes to food I was a chef so I love to cook, mostly Italian, seafood, or surf and turf but I can cook anything given the right ingredients. P.S. I use bacon in just about everything. I mean how can you not? It's the food of the Gods.
The six things I could never do without:
1. Music (Progressive Metal) Dream Theater FTW!!! \m/
2. Video Games (PC - WoW, Diablo 3, SMITE, Torchlight 2, Neverwinter / Xbox - Halo 4, Skyrim, Rockband)
3. My cats (Suki and Budhette)
4. Bacon (Enough Said)
5. Jack Daniels (YES SIR!!!)
6. Interwebz (My umbilical cord to the world)
I spend a lot of time thinking about:
I spend time thinking about the mysterious and the unknown. i.e. extraterrestrial life, teleportation, time travel, the possibility of vampires or zombies, the supernatural in general, etc.
On a typical Friday night I am:
On a typical Friday night I'm usually drinking with friends at my local bar (Battle and Brew in Marietta) or at home watching movies and playing video games or writing music.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit:
I don't keep any secrets. I'm an open and honest person with everyone and if more people were like that then this world would be a much better place. Hey, U.S. Government, take some notes...
You should message me if:
You have an open mind and aren't afraid to be yourself around me as I am always myself. You communicate well. You like Metal. (not a deal breaker as long as you are willing to give it a try) \m/ You aren't fake or a flake. You aren't a drama queen. You aren't a Hypochristian, you know, the do as I say not as I do bible thumper intolerant judgmental closed minded type who think they are better than everyone else that don't follow their religion. (If that statement pisses you off then you're part of the problem in society.) It's not that I don't believe there's a "God" or cosmic force in the universe or what ever label you want to give it, but I'm spiritual and not religious. You don't lie, cheat, or lead people on. If you don't know what you want in life or in relationship or can't accept me for who I am then you have no business messaging me because I'm not here to waste my time or yours.
