The name "Sybreed" is a portmanteau of "synthetic" and "breed".
According to their MySpace page, Sybreed defines their musical genre as death wave.
In early 2006, drummer Alex left the band due to creative and personal issues. He later formed the industrial death band Etna (now called Breach the Void).
In November 2012, Sybreed got some unlikely mainstream exposure when Rachel Aspe performed their song "Emma-0" on French television program Incroyable Talent.
Sybreed was put on hold during October, 2013 after it was announced that vocalist Benjamin Nominet had decided to leave the band for professional and personal reasons. The band announced the official split on July 9th, 2014.
