Hi there, I'm Toby! I'm an aspiring filmmaker and writer and I'm currently studying Film Studies/Production full time at University. I come from the Cotswolds (fun fact: it was the basis of inspiration for The Shire in the Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit books) and I cherish the countryside. I make experimental short films and music videos and write my own short stories and poetry, among other things.
I'm 21, autistic, agnostic, and a passionate Goth. For me Goth is about more than just the music or fashion but it's a philosophy of sorts - finding beauty in darkness. Yes yes it's exceedingly pretentious, but I've always found confronting the macabre to be comforting, in art and life. I also have a very morbid sense of humour.
Ideally, I'm looking for someone who is artistically inclined and who appreciates a quieter life. Preferably with a strong sense of humour. Beyond that, I've never had any romantic experience, so I'm pretty clueless lol.
Hobbies and things I love:
- watching and discussing films (especially Horror) - favourite filmmakers include Argento, Tarkovsky, Refn, and many more
- reading gothic and fantasy literature - my favourite author is H.P. Lovecraft
- photography
- baking
- hiking in the countryside
- playing Pokemon
- spending time with my family
- listening to music, especially atmospheric stuff
- Gothic fashion
- practising meditation (as an amateur)
- learning about the Occult and mythologies
- visiting graveyards and castles
- card games and Tarot (I'm only a novice)
- spending time with fluffy animals. My parents and I own two dogs and two cats, a tortoise, and chickens.
- discussing abstract and esoteric things
Dislikes:
- large parties and clubs, generally speaking. cozier clubs with good music can be fine but I cannot stand it when the music is too loud.
- Idle gossip and small-talk
- complicated food. I'm very fussy, it's a texture problem
- Drugs, smoking, alcohol. I don't mind other people who take less extreme drugs or drink moderately but I could never do it myself.
- going out to cities frequently
- Twitter, Tiktok, Reddit, etc
- SPIDERS. I AM USELESS WITH THEM. I HATE THEM SO MUCH. DEAR GOD.
