Martin Dupont is a french cold wave/electronic band from Marseille. They were active from 1982 to 1990 before reuniting in late 2022. Band members are Alain Seghir (singer/songwriter/principal musician), Brigitte Balian (singer) and Beverley Jane Crew (singer & horns). After being sampled and hailed as proper legends since the early 2000s by many producers, DJs, rappers and label owners, they decided to come back and tour in 2023, adding new touring members to the classic line-up. Since then, they are working on a new album.
Their classic discography includes three albums ("Just Because", 1982; "Sleep Is A Luxury", 1985 and "Hot Paradox", 1987) and a remake/compilation album, "Kintsugi", released in 2023.
It's kinda difficult to put Martin Dupont into a genre since they mix typical cold wave sounds with some more overtly pop/new wave influences. You can also find traces of electronic, industrial, proto trip-hop and jazz elements in their music. The album "Hot Paradox" blends all these influences into one, which was quite impressive for the mid-1980s.
