Led by Dave Wakeling, The Beat hit the British 2Tone ska scene in 1979 with an up-tempo cover of Smoky Robinson's "Tears Of A Clown", followed by 3 studio albums in the early 80's. Following solo albums and work under the name General Public, Wakeling put The English Beat back together and continues touring to this day. A new studio album, "Here We Go Love", was released in 2018, and is as good or better than any of the recordings from the classic years.
