Bursting onto the scene like a nail from a gun, Besieged formed in Birmingham (UK) in 2012 when long term metal writing partnership Barney (aka Aggressor) and Jez decided that the UK’s metal scene was long overdue for a relentless, visceral thrash assault.
Focusing on shackling speed, aggression, and intelligent lyrics to heaviness not seen this side of military hardware, new material was written in a matter of days. This material was honed, fine-tuned, forced into microphones, and the short but bloody war of production resulted in the release of 2012’s ‘Parasite God’ demo.
On the strength of this, the band recruited guitarist Dan Rose aka Foxhound (Anaal Nathrakh), drummer Ashley Guest (Benediction) and bassist Matt Ensor (Shebrew) with a view to bringing a fierce live show to life.
In 2014, the band started work on ‘Aggressor’ – an evolution of the sound birthed by its predecessor. ‘Aggressor’ also launched the band’s mascot character of the same name – a government super-soldier struggling to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. Beset by post-production delays, ‘Aggressor’ finally roared onto the scene in late 2015, accompanied by a campaign of live missions.
