Aaron Spectre grew up in the Massachusetts suburban sprawl, playing drums and going to all ages shows. He was fortunate to have been heavily influenced by bands like Converge, Bane, and Cave In during his formative years. As his interests shifted to electronic music, he moved to NYC, bought turntables, and started producing ambient, jungle and drum'n'bass. In 2003 he moved to Berlin, Germany, released several vinyl 12”s, and began playing in squats around central Europe. He founded Drumcorps to tie together the best parts of his varied influences. 2006’s Grist, a huge success in the breakcore scene, earned him shows around the world. In 2007, Grist won an Award of Distinction at Prix Ars Electronica, a prestigious yearly prize whose past winners include Aphex Twin, Chris Cunningham, and Peter Gabriel. 2008 was Aaron’s widest-reaching year to date, with 58,000 miles of travel, gigs on four continents, including return trips to Russia and Japan, and debuts in Mexico, Taiwan, Australia and New Zealand. As of 2009, Aaron is focusing solely on Drumcorps.
