"I need the real world as little as possible".
I want to preface this entire profile by pointing out how completely aware I am that I sound like something of an escapist. I'm not - my upbringing and consequent existence thus far keep me firmly in the realms of the realist. I'm quiet and easily tire of obnoxious people and belligerence.
I am, first and foremost, a writer, second, a photographer, and third, a musician.
I'm really not good at writing about myself which I suppose is a small irony but here's the basics.
I strike a fine line between hopeless romantic and bitter cynic.
I have that sort of obvious melancholy cynicism that everyone seems to revel in these days. Misery loves company, that's why I'm here.
I handwash my clothes because I don't like detergents.
Inbetween job-hunting and massacring time with weighty tomes of poetry I indulge in music and music journalism.
I wouldn't call myself an open book, so to speak, but I do love a decent conversation, so fire away.
Stuff I like:
The Dirt, The Heroin Diaries, Apathy For The Devil, anything Lovecraftian, Faust, The Divine Comedy, Baudelaire, The Aeneid. the work of John Wilmot, Lord Byron, John Milton. More contemporary: Fight Club, anything by Stanley Kubrick or Charles Bukowski. I'm not even remotely religious but the exploration of Christianity's mythos through literature is fascinating.
Not a big movie fan, but when I do watch them, it's usually either silly gory Rob Zombie type stuff or cheesy Jason Segel comedies. There are some films I totally love - anything by David Lynch, especially Lost Highway, The Big Lebowski, Fight Club, etc.
Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Archer, South Park. Love stuff like Black Books, Blackadder, Green Wing etc. Not a huge TV person.
Music is an essential ingredient in my day to day life. My world revolves around it.Tool, Infected Mushroom, Korn, Whitesnake, Hanoi Rocks, HIM, Motley Crue, Deathstars, Pink Floyd, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Faith No More, Kiss, Cathedral, Datsik, Shpongle, Black Sabbath, Megadeth, Smashing Pumpkins, QOTSA, Them Crooked Vultures, Fields of the Nephilim. Lots of different stuff but I'd be here all day. EDM, EBM, 80's goth and industrial.
