I'm Catie, and I'm a student at Eastern Illinois University. Currently studying Kinesiology which basically means I want to be a gym teacher. Yeah, I know, it's a blow off major. But I'm a huge sports fan and I've played sports for what seems like forever, so it's a really good fit. I'm double minoring in Health Studies and Driver's Ed. So High School teaching is for me. I'm from the South Side of Chicago, so I'm a White Sox fan as far as the Sox/Cubs debate goes. But I really could care less if you aren't that into sports.
Next up...music. I probably can't say enough about how big of a part of my life music is. It's my second love pretty much, and my ipod is connected to me as often as I'm breathing. Yes, that means always. Concerts are my escape. I spend as much time at concerts as I can. I have a 160GB ipod, and it's honestly not big enough. I currently have about 16000 songs, and there are many more coming. I've been a singer for about 10 years, and I love it.
I'm typically extremely shy and quiet when you first meet me, but I open up pretty quickly. Sarcasm is my forte, but I really try not to offend people with my humor. Hopefully you know not to take anything too personally if you're talking to me. In other words, comedy is one of my loves. I'm going to have to be like every other person and say that I love Dane Cook. But, I've found some pretty hilarious people on youtube that I can't get enough of. As long as it can keep my attention, I'm usually a fan of it. I'm just a supporter of laughing.
I'm a huge sucker for tattoos and piercings. I don't know why, I just think they are damn s*xy. For example, I think Jacoby Shaddix is one of the best looking men on this earth, although I'm biased because I love his music. Anyway, I have my lip pierced, and my cartilage on my left ear. Had regular ear piercings, but I just got tired of them. I'd get a tattoo if I could finish designing mine, but I just haven't gotten around to it.
What I’m doing with my life:
I plan on teaching in a high school when I'm finished with college. Hopefully physical education, health and driver's education. I'd be okay in an elementary or middle school too.
Other than that, I want to travel. I'm probably hitting up Canada this summer, although that isn't all that far from the United States.
I’m really good at:
Im not "really good" at anything. Seriously.
I'm alright at what I do though. Go figure. Making people laugh, singing, writing. That's pretty much it.
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me:
Personality, hair and eyes. I usually have the ability to make people laugh or smile even on a bad day. My red hair typically makes people jealous because they want it so badly. I'm not too fond of it, but I've come to terms with that. I have really deep hazel eyes, but my contacts bring out the green, and it can be a little intense if the light is hitting from the right angle. I also have my lip pierced, so it's sort of hard to miss.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food:
Movies:
Wristcutters: A Love Story.
Sweeney Todd
The Dark Knight
The Breakfast Club
Romantic comedies are my favorite (Love Actually, The Holiday, My Best Friends Wedding, Notting Hill, Music and Lyrics) but I'll watch almost anything. LOVE Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts. Not much of a horror fan because I can never sleep after. Musicals are pretty much amazing (RENT, Phantom of The Opera, Moulin Rouge, Chicago, Evita). LOTR Trilogy rocks (that would be Lord of The Rings). Harry Potter is good but it ruins the imagination. Gotta love Titanic for the inside jokes. Disney movies aren't so bad (Great Mouse Detective, Mulan, Fox and the Hound). Movies of comics can be good (Spiderman, Batman, X-Men). I love seeing shows on stage. RENT, Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, Les Miserables, Evita...there are definitely more than that.
Music:
Fall Out Boy, Plain White T's, Gym Class Heroes, Cute Is What We Aim For, The Academy Is..., Cobra Starship, The Rocket Summer, Sherwood, Armor For Sleep, Angels & Airwaves, The Color Fred, Meg & Dia, Ace Enders, Boys Like Girls, We Shot The Moon, Houston Calls, The Higher, A Kidnap In Color, My Chemical Romance, Billy Talent, The Hush Sound, Motion City Soundtrack, Panic At The Disco, The Friday Night Boys, A Change Of Pace, The Maine, The Cab, The Morning Light, Jack's Mannequin, Paramore, Go Radio, Lannen Fall, The Scenic, The July Week, Calls For Comfort, Aux Sable Embers, Between The Trees, Treaty Of Paris, Mayday Parade, Hey Monday, All Time Low, Metro Station, The Audition, Charlotte Sometimes, AFI, Blaqk Audio, Archie Star, Papa Roach, Buckcherry, Foo Fighters, ...tons more that i dont have room to list. these are just most of the bands that I've seen live.
I'm really into just about any type of music you can throw at me. I have over 16000 songs on my ipod and around 600 artists, if not more. Ask me about any artist, and I'll let you know how I feel.
I have the tendency to get albums before they're officially released, and my friends hate me for it. But, it's a pretty sweet deal...especially because it's completely free.
Books:
A Separate Peace
Blue Like Jazz
The Great Gatsby
To Kill A Mockingbird.
A Tale of Two Cities.
mostly old stuff, but I'm open to just about anything.
Food:
Pizza, because I'm from a suburb of Chicago.
Italian in general.
I'm not so into Chinese or Mexican, but I'll eat it if I go to a restaurant.
The six things I could never do without:
Friends (they mean the world to me).
Family (I wouldn't know where i'd be without them).
Music (this is my escape and creative outlet).
Sports (it's a passion).
Love (I don't want to be lonely forever).
Humor (it makes things more enjoyable).
I spend a lot of time thinking about:
Everything. I think and rethink every single thing in my life. Most of the time I'm thinking about the next thing I'm going to do, or the next place I want to go. If not, I'm trying to figure out what I want to write about because there isn't a day that I don't write about something. To be honest, my mind never stops, but I'm okay with that.
On a typical Friday night I am:
Hanging out with friends or just taking some alone time. I'm straight edge, so that means I don't drink. It doesn't mean I don't know how to have a good time, though.
