Hi, I'm Ryan. I'm a preschool teacher by day, and practitioner of the cannabis arts by night. I'm bi-gendered, and am a mix of Mexican and Italian ancestry. I'm like if the Aztec coyote god had a baby with the Roman sun god, except with way less magic powers. Fingers crossed this is the year I can learn to shape-shift and shoot healing arrows.
I studied comedy writing for a decade before I realized I didn't like the competitive, product based-culture that mainstream art has become, so I switched gears and became a preschool teacher! Now I get to hang out with children, make weird art projects, run around outdoors, and generally have a blast.
I play several instruments, and make music for fun. My favorite instruments to play are bass, drums, and banjo-ukulele. I am teaching myself to play the cornet. I make post-hardcore music, which I've been told sounds like Cake + Deftones, so I'm basically the champion of early 2000's music.
I'm also a very glass half-full kind of person. I'm that rare emo kid who really values optimism, because I don't believe you can create happiness by focusing on negative emotions. I choose to make art that channels my anxiety into something positive.
My goals include:
- Write one book
- Write one album
- Move to Germany
- Get a masters in education
- Somehow become a character on a pro wrestling show
- Avenge my pet chameleon
