I'm not convinced I'll discover the best person ever on this site, but these kinda things can be useful for meeting the odd cool person/potential friend. I'm not looking for anyone specific; I like to be open-minded - usually as long as someone's a decent, funny, intelligent, and interesting person, I can get on with them just fine; shared interests are just a bonus. I like unique people that can challenge me. I like discovery, experience, inspiration, openness, learning, analysis, honesty, beauty, sounds, words, empathy, intensity, passion, love, trust, ideas, understanding, freedom. I don't really like lies, hubris, or aggression. This is my evolution; stagnation is abhorrent. If you want to just chill out and abstain from all the cerebral stuff then that's all fine too; let's go stare at a tree and talk nonsense together - humour is the best. I don't define myself by my interests and daily-activities, and I hope you don't either
.
I have a job that's only 4 days a week and pays enough for me to live, and leaves me the time to do more fun things. I'm in a weird music group and we play odd gigs mostly in the north of England. I write too, sometimes. Spare time often involves hiking, camping, cycling, going to gigs, pubs with friends, sitting in parks with friends, and playing boardgames with friends.
Politics - fully left. Like anarchist/Marxist/situationist type of theory.
Religion - atheist.
Some stuff I like:
Films: Key names:
Almodóvar, Ghibli, Charlie Kaufman, Gilliam, Jarman, Herzog, Hitchc**k, Svankmajer, Haneke, von Trier, Buñuel, Kieslowski, Svankmajer, Tarr, Kubrick, Lynch, and Tarkovsky.
TV: Larry David, The Prisoner, Shameless, Dr Who, Adventure Time, British comedies
Music:
I don't like all music. I like a lot of music. I'm pretty fussy about what I do like. I like interesting and powerful sounds that make me feel something, and I love to discover new exciting things. I don't care what other people like, as long as they're reasonably open-minded and somewhat passionate.

I probably look like a metalhead at first glance. I'm really not. At second glance I probably look like a drippy-hippy. I'm not that either. Most things I tend to see live nowadays are in the free-jazz/free-improv/noise/power-electronics/drone/crust-punk sides of my tastes, if I'm honest. I've got a subscription to 'Wire' magazine, which probably tells you all you need to know.
Books:
Erm... In terms of fiction I like intellectually stimulating things with creative uses of language. I also like various dense chunks of philosophy and psychology. Poetry's awesome. So is history. Art/linguistic/postmodern theory is ace, and semiotics and all that jazz is fun. And sociology/political theory type things (Politics? Anarchist, Situationist, Marxist waffling, sorta-mostly. No kyriarchy plz). I'm a bit obsessed with Jean Genet and Roland Barthes. I often spend more time than I end up reading newspapers and political blogs too much by accident. At any one time, I'm usually embroiled in inching my way through a large pile of totally disparate books/articles/essays.
Diet: vegetarian.
