I'm into trad. Goth music, goth metal, some punk, ska, Gregorian Medieval chants, Celtic music....amongst other things, good clubs, gigs and laughs with friends.
Style of dress is all black, mainly leggings, boots and shirts or t-shirts, to more elaborate Victorian frocks: corsets and big skirts...for events , clubs etc that allow for that
I have a dark, sarcastic brand of humour that may come across as arrogant or overly confident to those who don't know/get me.
I don't take myself seriously and can often be self deprecating.
I try to see the good in most people I encounter, even when they prove themselves to be utter s**ts time and time again, I keep hoping the good side in them will somehow appear and take over. So far, I have been disappointed each and every time! But that's my own fault I guess for being and remaining too trusting.
Watch out how you amuse yourself, because when you get your kicks by using and playing with the feelings and emotions of others, you don't know how much deeper things might run for these people.
That was that for 'Serious s**t' part of this. Onwards... ----->
I have interests in archeology, history which mainly translate in watching relevant TV programs and visiting places with historical links, monuments, ruins ... to them.
Historical eras I am most interested in is prehistory to the 1700s mainly. Thought I like the Victorian period for the fashion and some of the history, anything to do with Industrial revolution etc usually bores me.
I also very much enjoyed studying the Russian and French Revolutions way back when I was at school.
Art wise, I hate anything called Modern 'art' where a turd on a plate or used condoms and tissues on a messed up bed wins sodding prizes.
I like paintings from the Renaissance and Pre-Raphaelites. Waterhouse is a favourite. I also like Dali.
I enjoy a wander around museums on occasions as many are free in London, would be rude not to.
Also interested in Astronomy/ stargazing as an occasional past time and when I can bother moving my telescope to whatever location the celestial bodies grace the skies when these are cloud free. I saw Saturn a few months back, tiny but could make out the rings and I was bouncing with excitement - granted, it doesn't always take much to get me silly.
I work for a company that manufacture Photomultipliers (electron tubes = tubes that detect light particles etc), these are used in many applications from surgery, deep sea research, astronomy etc... and so if there happen to be any programs / documentaries on TV relating to a project we are working on, I will watch it. Our customers do include CERN and CNRS which I find pretty cool.
I've been an Extra in a couple of films, most notably a horror comedy B(ad) movie called The Vampires of Bloody Island in which I play 2 members of the leading lady's vampire army. Just a lot of running about in the woods screaming, but I did have a quite litterally smoking death scene, slumped over a tree! This masterpiece is out on Dvd from Amazon and all that, I kid you not!
Also done a few TV things including the high ranking Snog, Marry, Avoid as a Victorian fang wearing Goth that damn machine was not going to change! Was fun enough, a day out to Manchester, my own dressing room no less, all expenses paid.
After all that, Hollywood still eludes me.... can't think why.
I have a bass guitar, bought it in 1989, because I couldn't sneak a whole drum kit past my parents and a bass was the next best thing. 2 of my idols and s*x gods play the bass: Simon Gallup of The Cure and Peter Steele of Type O, sadly for us the latter now rules over a better Realm. BUT unlike them both, after all these years, I still can't play the bugger. It takes self motivation I seem devoid of.
Otherwise, mainly same stuff as most people: TV, DVDs, music, reading, and possibly too much time on some social websites.
Movie tastes are quite varied and my DVD collections contains quite a few Vampire films as you would expect to find on any Goth's shelves, couple of horror ('mild' as I'm not into excessive gore or gratuitous violence at all), I prefer psychological stuff.
A few Jane Austen adaptations, comedies from Bridget Jones to Zoolander via Withnail and I.
I have seen Shaun of the Dead a good 100 times and Hot Fuzz not too far behind, these are films I will never tire of watching.
Comedy TV boxsets of Blackadder, Black Books, Green Wing, Jeeves and Wooster, Faulty Towers... and a couple of recorded shows by Frankie Boyle and Dylan Moran.
I have quite a few comedians (stand up) I like, the 2 above to start, Bill Bailey, Bill Hicks, Andy Parsons, Ross Noble, Hugh Denis, Alan Carr, Lee Mack.. I'm very politically incorrect so never get offended by swearing and rude offensive comedians. I swear like a trooper myself.
I'm full of contradictions at times though I have strong principles I apply myself to live by, such as honesty and I believe that fully investing yourself in things that interest you is a must. That goes for the person I am involved with - it's called passion where I come from!
I can be quite dismissive of other people's interests (usually that comes from that 'pain in the arse' side of me who just enjoys making itself appear Difficult), I will appreciate a person all the more if they rise to the challenge of trying to change my mind by introducing me to that interest of theirs.
Of course, if it really is something that I really don't care for, then it won't happen.
In the end it can go both ways, I can decide it's still of no interest to me, or I might discover a new interest I'd not considered at all before. Either way, I will be better informed and that's a good thing, whilst the other person will have shown me a mature attitude I will appreciate enormously.
I love animals, and am currently the proud servant of a beautiful cat called Darcy.
I have no kids and have never wanted any though would not dismiss adoption should I ever find myself in a financial situation where I know I can offer a child a good stable life. There are way too many kids out there being brought into this world by people who do not consider further than the lure of benefits and a free house if they whines enough to the relevant authorities.
I see plenty of such cases where I live where it is obvious that the kids are only the means to an end.
Pet hates, just because seeing it here does my head in: people who can't be bothered to rotate their profile picture(s) before loading it (them).
Full blown hatred of:
Flaky blokes, liars, users, cheats, players, insincerity...
Oh yeah, and blokes who pine after their exes months and even years after they split up, and look for her in every new acquaintance instead of giving a new person a chance.
You get the idea hopefully, and if these are characteristics you live by, go play elsewhere please.
