Sematary is an experimental artist hailing from Northern California. Known for his slurred vocal style and production versatility. His production, which has the classic trap percussion style, creates a stark sonic contrast which results in a unique sound that hasn’t been done before. The artist also uses lots of different black metal samples. Sematary self-produces the majority of his music independently, without a record label or a deal.
Sematary’s genres range from witchhouse, black metal and emo rap. He has stated in the past he is inspired by artists such as Chief Keef, Yung Lean (2014-2016 era) and Sickboyrari, with Keef being the biggest.
Sematary’s themes and aesthetics are dark, violent, and disturbing, with lyrics about taking teeth, burning down houses, and constant mentions of boxcutters. He’s also taken a “violently alt-left” stance, with constant mentions of his hatred of cops and the government, seen most obviously in songs like “1312” or “We Don’t Dial 911.”
Sematary started the collective Haunted Mound in 2019, now housing 9 members ranging from producers and artists to clothing designers.
