Bootsy's Rubber Band is bassest Bootsy Collins' own p-funk band that he started in 1976 with guitarist Catfish Collins, drummer Kash Waddy, keyboardist Razorsharp Johnson, percussionist Mudbone Cooper, vocalist P-Nut Johnson and the Horny Horns [Maceo Parker, Rick Gardner and Kush Griffith]. None of the Bootsy's Rubber Band music received any airplay on white racist mainstream pop radio stations, or MTV, because Bootsy Collins is black and looks like a pimp. Boosty only made it into the mainstream when he collaborated with the white group Deee-Lite's "Groove Is in the Heart" (1990), white Fatboy Slim's "Weapon of Choice" (2001) and white Lyle Workman on the Superbad (2007) movie soundtrack. The Bootsy's Rubber Band albums are: Stretchin' Out in Bootsy's Rubber Band (1976), The Name is Boosty, Baby! (1977), Player of the Year (1978), This Boot Is Made for Fonk-N (1979), Jungle Bass (1990), Blasters of the Universe (1994), Keepin' Dah Funk Alive 4-1995 (1995), Live in Louisville 1978 (1998), Live in Oklahoma 1976 (2001) and Live in Concert 1998 (2006).
