Aviatic is a 4-piece melodic rock band based in Los Angeles, California. In 2004, members from Beat & Path and The Unknown Project merged their respective bands to form Aviatic. A year later, the group released their debut album, Arrival. That year, the first track of that album, a revamped version of Beat & Path’s “Goodbye Beautiful Day”, reached the top 10 at Yahoo! Music in the Adult Alternative category. To date, it was the only song by an unsigned artist to achieve that feat.
Since then, Aviatic has walked away with the top prize in battle of the band competitions such as the Universal CityWalk Competition and the UCLA Bruin Battle. They have also played numerous sold-out shows in the L.A. area. In November 2006, the group had the opportunity to rehearse at the CenterStaging complex in Burbank,CA, where members played new songs that have since only been released on iTunes as videos, not audio tracks. Lead singer and keyboardist Sebu Simonian expressed the Aviatic’s hopes of releasing a new album in the new year.
However, a follow-up to Arrival was never released. Instead, band members have kept busy with a number of solo projects. As of 2009: Guitarist Ryan Welker has had his own successes with composing for film, TV, and gaming. Sebu Simonian has been creating his own trance/electronica tracks. Lastly, bass guitarist Clint Feddersen and drummer Barrett Yeretsian teamed up with 2 other musicians to create Lunar Sway. The latter group once again covered “Goodbye Beautiful Day” as part of their repertoire.
